📰 Consumer News📰
The biggest news this week was President Donald Trump's announcement of new tariffs set to begin on April 5th. These tariffs include a universal 10% rate on all imports, with higher rates for 60 countries—specifically, a 54% tariff on goods from China and 20% on goods from the EU. Additionally, the suspension of the Section 321 exception means that goods imported into the U.S. valued under $800 will now also incur duties. Following the announcement, stock markets declined, and economists warn this could lead to stagflation and possibly trigger a global recession. The EU, China, and other affected nations are preparing countermeasures. (CNN)
