Maka, the Nigerian social commerce platform that wants to make it easier to buy fashion and beauty & personal care products in Africa, raised a $2.65 million pre-seed round led by 4DX Ventures and Janngo Capital, with participation from Palm Drive Capital, and angel investor Jonathan Shipman - TechCrunch
Barnyard Games, which is a gaming studio that is making games for Fortnite, raised $3.4 million led by Menlo Ventures, with participation from BetaWorks, Alumni Ventures, Charge VC, and key strategic angels Eden Chen and Nate Mitchell - VentureBeat

Atomo Coffee, which is a beanless coffee brand that uses upcycled ingredients to create a sustainable alternative, raised an undisclosed amount from Suntory Holdings – produces of Jim Beam and Maker’s Mark - Food Dive
Meati, the mushroom based meat company, adds USA Gymnast star Aly Raisman and NBA star Chris Paul to the cap table - FoodDive
IPOs
Golden Goose, the Italian luxury fashion group, is set to IPO next year and raise $1.1 billion - Fashion Network
Ecommerce Tech & Retail Tech
Qogita, the ecommerce wholesale marketplace that helps health and beauty retailers, raised $86 million Series B led by London’s Dawn Capital with participation from Accel, Bessemer Venture Partners and LocalGlobe - TechCrunch
Kleep, the French-based company that uses AI to recommend what size to order to help brands with minimizing returns, raised $1.966 million from David Dayan, Laurent Grosman, Philippe Berlan, Rachel Chicheportiche, Olivier Schaeffer, Eric de Bettignies, Rossella Blatt, Chantal Baudron, and Irani Ventures - Fashion Network
Myth.AI, tha London-based company that uses AI to make the textile design process faster, raised $1.3 million from Faik Ulutas - Fashion Network
Woola, the Estonia-based sustainable packaging company that is replacing plastic recycling with packaging produced from unused sheep wool and targeting the luxury industry, raised $2.73 million led by Metaplanet with participation from Future Ventures and Lemonade Stand - Packaging Gateway

Chobani, the brand that is most well known for its greek yogurt, buys La Colombe, the RTD coffee brand, for $900 million - FoodDive
Unilever, the consumer goods giant whose brands include Ben and Jerry’s, Dove and Hellman’s, sells Elida Beauty to private equity firm Yellow Wood Partners - Fashion Network
Farfetch, the luxury ecommerce platform, gets acquired by Coupang, the South Korean ecommerce giant, Coupang, to avoid bankruptcy in a deal valued at $500 million - NY Times
